Biography

Urs Voegeli, born 1976 in Schaffhausen, lives in Winterthur. From the first Chords on the guitar at the age of 14 until his graduation at the Musikhochschule Luzern in 2007, Voegeli checked out nearly ever possible and impossible way of playing the guitar. In the beginning, Blues and Rock were in the centre of his interest. Then, Voegeli studied the secrets of Modern Jazz. His studies with Christy Doran und Frank Möbus led him into the world of Improvised Music and made him open-minded towards stiles and different forms/shapes of music. Nowadays, Voegeli self-educates compositions and concepts of New Music. All the impressions develop in his own composing and arranging. His wide musical interest brings him together with musicians from different genres like Jazz, Rock, Singer/Songwriter und New Music. Voegeli won the Förderprice of City and Canton of Schaffhausen in 2008.

Urs Vögeli plays with: Dominique Girod und Irina Ungureanu (Trio  Grünes Blatt); Corin Curschellas, Marc Halbheer sowie Betinko (u.a. mit Bettina Klöti, Vera Kappeler, Flo Götte, Julian Sartorius).
